Chairman's End of Year Remarks - 2024

Dear registrants,

As 2024 comes to a close I reflect on the mixed bag of results I, as Chairman of the NZBDC, have achieved in this past year.

It has been wonderful to see many of our dancers travelling to, and competing in dance competitions in, England, Asia and Australia. This adds so much vitality to their dance journey, and I applaud them. My congratulations to you all.

When I was elected Chairperson in March 2023 my main objectives were to unify the dance organisations within Aotearoa and create a vibrant, sustainable dance community for all levels and ages.

Behind the scenes I have diligently done the mahi however, the outward results do not reveal the steps accomplished and progression in this process has been slow.

Although I have been made to realise that any change at this present time will not be forthcoming, I look forward to this happening soon.

As we move into the new year, I do hope that dancers will come to the NZBDC if they have any thoughts or concepts on how to make their experiences in dance greater.
